Friday, January 25th 6:30 pm: Graveyard Games Night Time Edition hosted by CrossFit College Park. CFM has 3 teams competing in this competition for a $1000 cash prize. Complete 15 Lateral Plyo Skier Hops, Rest 5 minutes...
Then, one minute on, one minute off for 10 minutes:
30 Russian kettlebell swings - 70/53
*You have 1 minute to complete 30 Russian KB swings. If you do not get 30 Russian KB Swings in 1 minute, count a penalty and an uncompleted round.
*Five rounds of work.
*Total time is 10 minutes with a goal is 150 Russian KB Swings in the alotted time.
*For every round you don't hit 30 swings, perform a 10 burpee penalty.

New Month, New Goals!

With each new month comes a fresh, empty goal board at CFM. Make sure to write your goal(s) for the month next time you're in the box! A few tips for your goal setting, in and out of CFM...
1. Set Goals that Motivate You
2. Set SMART Goals -
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time Bound.
3. Set Goals in Writing
4. Make an Action Plan
5. Stick With It!

And don't forget the PRs!

PR stands for personal record. ANY TIME you do something for the first time - a double under, a 12" box jump, a strict pull up, a handstand, a workout "Rx'ed" - or a new personal best at any lift... You write it on the board! Let's see how many PRs we can get this month. LIS will commit to do a burpee for every PR on the board at the end of the month. Put her to work!

B. Every minute on the minute for 9 minutes:
Rd 1, 4, 7: Run 200m
Rd 2, 5, 8: 12 KB swings
Rd 3, 6, 9: 6 Pull ups

A. Overhead squat: 5-5-5+
B. Complete 8 rounds:
3 Power Cleans @ 75% of body weight
3 Broad Jumps for max distance
*Once you finish power cleans, perform 3 broad jumps for max distance.

Best. Summer. Ever.

As I laid at the pool Sunday until almost 8pm with FULL SUN, it hit me that summer is here. All the good - pool & lake time, sunshine, afternoons at the park... and the bad - thunderstorms, mosquitoes, muggy days (and nights!) are here to stay for the next few months.
At CFM, we've got lots in store for you: the Helen Challenge, another CFM Happy Hour each month, Quarterly Progress checks in July, another Food as Fuel session in August, some fun with our neighbors Fab'rik & Big Peach Running Co and more Olympic Lifting awesomeness with Cheryl Haworth.
I'm personally looking forward to seeing everyone's progress with the Helen Challenge. I'm also gonna finish settling into my new apartment, take a few weeks vacation next month (part work - USAPL Nationals, the CrossFit Games & a BIZ seminar... and part play - visiting my family & hitting the beach!), and celebrate my birthday in August!
