31 Heroes WOD & Fundraiser

Every August we host the 31 Heroes Fundraiser and WOD. We usually are able to raise thousands for the Wounded Warrior Project.
 
31Heroes (AMRAP 31)
  • 8 Thrusters (155/105)
  • 6 Rope Climbs
  • 11 Box Jumps (30/24)
  • Partner 1 will perform the work listed above. Partner 2 will run 400m with a sandbag (45/25). Once Partner 2 returns from the run, Partner 1 will grab the sandbag and begin their 400m, while Partner 2 continues work wherever 1 left off.
This WOD was created specifically to honor the 30 men and one dog that gave their lives for our country on August 6, 2011. It is 31 minutes long—one minute in remembrance of each hero. The rep scheme is 8-6-11—the date of their ultimate sacrifice. Finally, this is a partner WOD. The men who gave their lives were from multiple branches of our military, working together as a team. 

Memorial Day MURPH

Every year on Memorial Day, CFM goes to Piedmont Park’s active oval to do Murph (Partner/Team or Solo options), then we go to brunch afterward. This WOD is about honor, remembrance and appreciation:
in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

We realize that no physical sacrifice made during a workout can come close to the sacrifice our brave heroes make, but we consider this WOD a CrossFitter’s “moment of silence.” This is how we can honor those that give all in the name of freedom.

Movie Premiere Nights

We love Marvel and Star Wars movies, so any time they come to theatres, we organize a group to go to the premiere. Costumes optional, but highly, highly encouraged. Coach Mike loves to get in the spirit for each movie premiere, so you won’t be alone.

Celebrations

We’ve been around for a while, but it doesn’t mean we take it for granted. We love our members and the community we created, so we celebrate our anniversary every year in May with a gym-wide party. We also like the holidays – so Halloween and Christmas usually get a little love, too.

Friday Night Lights

Every year, during the CrossFit Open, we host weekly friendly competitions to complete the programmed Open workouts. We workout, watch each other workout, then have fun afterwards.

Competitions

CFM hosts occasional internal competitions for CrossFit and weightlifting. Grab your WOD buddies, create a team, and join us during our “pop-up” competitions.

Bring-a-Friend Days

Once you become a member here, you’ll probably want to bring your friends and show them what CrossFit is all about. We have Bring-a-Friend days on every third Thursday each month. Sometimes we offer “pop-up” bring-a-friend days on the weekends, too! The workouts are always beginner-friendly and are usually partner WODs.

Words can’t describe how much I LOVE this place. it’s like a little piece of heaven on earth, if heaven on earth is sweaty and is filled with barbells and strong, awesome, amazing people. This place has some of the most amazing, thoughtful, & energetic human beings that I’ve ever met.
