Join CFM for Friday Night Lights during the Open!!

Upcoming Events

Thursday, Feb 23rd: The 2017 Open begins! CrossFit Midtown will be doing the open workouts on Friday during regular classes and then each week we have a Friday Night Lights (FNL) competition highlighting match-ups with both individual and team events as well as a gym social Friday evenings after the workouts. The 1st Open workout is released on Thursday, February 23rd and continues for 5 weeks with 1 new workout each week. Participating in the Open is a seminal CrossFit experience, and we highly recommend all athletes who have been training at CFM for a year or more to sign up. This is a great opportunity to test your fitness and enjoy the camaraderie and community of CrossFit. Click here to register for the open and join Team CFM.

10-20-30-40-50 1-Arm Dumbbell Snatches (alternating arms) (m = 50/35/20, w = 35/20/10)
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (Rx = 24″/20″)*

*Scaled(L2) and L1: Box jump overs 20″ for men and women and step-ups permitted.

Post time to complete WOD or number of reps. Ex: 14:37 Rx or 173 Rx

Open 16.2

Beginning on a 4-minute clock, complete as many reps as possible of the following triplet. If completed before 4 minutes, add 4 minutes to the clock and proceed to the next round adding weight to the squat clean with descending rep scheme:
Rx:
25 toes-to-bars
50 double-unders
15-13-11-9-7 squat cleans
m = 135, 185, 225, 275, 315
w = 85, 115, 145, 175, 205

Scaled:
25 hanging knee raises
50 single-unders
15-13-11-9-7 squat cleans
m = 95, 115, 135, 155, 185
w = 55, 75, 95, 115, 135

Additional Scaling Options for Classes:
Scaling T2B: K2A 1:1, T2R 1:1, Hanging Knee Raises 1:1, Situps 1:1
Scaling Double Unders: (DU+single) 25 reps, speed step 1:1, singles 1:1
L1 weights: (m = 65, 75, 95, 115, 135; w = 35, 45, 55, 65, 75)

In selecting which weights to go for the WOD select a weight ladder such that the 3rd round is below your 1RM Squat Clean OR (Power Clean + Front Squat). Either movement/combo is permitted.

Join the CFM Pteradactyls!

The CrossFit Open begins tonight with the announcement of the first workout, “14.1”, tonight at 8pm. CrossFit Midtown will be doing the Open workouts on Saturdays, so join the CFM team at games.crossfit.com or just show up on Saturdays to try the workouts. This week’s workout announcement is hosted at our neighbors to the west, CrossFit North Atlanta. It will also be streamed online.

Cheer on Coach Lis at the Arnold!

Lis is competing Friday morning at the Arnold Sports Festival in the USAPL Pro Raw Powerlifting Challenge. You can watch the action streaming live online at usapowerlifting.com. She lifts in Flight B of the morning session (8a-12:30p) and hopes to set a few more state records and make it to the podium.

Unless you can demonstrate THREE strict handstand push ups for your coach prior to the workout, you won’t be allowed to do kipping handstand push ups in that workout. GET STRONG!

Georgia Fitness League’s Spring 2014 team competition series:
Week 1 – Saturday, April 19th at Fitness Battalion CrossFit (West Midtown)
Week 2 – Saturday, May 3rd CrossFit Breaking Boundaries (Roswell)
Week 3 – Saturday, May 17th CrossFit Indulto (Sandy Springs)
Week 4 – Saturday, May 31st CrossFit Atlanta (West Midtown…this is a tournament, so likely a longer time spent competing)

Cost is $85/person for scaled teams & $100/person for Rx teams. Contact Kelly by THIS FRIDAY to register!

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
15 thrusters 100/65#
15 Chest to bar Pull-ups

If 90 reps (3 rounds) are completed in under 4 minutes, time extends to 8 minutes.
If 180 reps (6 rounds) are completed in under 8 minutes, time extends to 12 minutes.
If 270 reps (9 rounds) are completed in under 12 minutes, time extends to 16 minutes.

Two weeks away from three big events!

The weekend of March 7-10th will be a busy one at CFM. Please participate however you can – Bring-A-Friend Days, the FIRST Open WOD, and the Olympic Lifting Seminar are all coming up!
March 7 8 & 9 Bring-A-Friend Days: Share CFM with your friends on March 7, 8 & 9. All our classes are open to guests (RSVP required by emailing FRIENDS@crossfitmidtown.com. CFM students: don’t fret! We still have 14 spots in each class reserved for you! Get all the details here.
March 9 the CF OPEN begins! Kick off CFM’s first Games season with the first CrossFit Open workout, Saturday, March 9 at 12noon. Register now! If you’re unable to commit to every Saturday, we’ll also be scheduling makeup WODs (so don’t let that scare you off!).
March 10 Olympic Lifting Seminar: Travis Cooper teaches a six-hour seminar (9a-4p with an hour break for lunch) to teach us the finer points of the snatch and clean & jerk. Register now! B. Hang Power Snatch clusters: 5 sets of 3.2.1, every 3 minutes. For each cluster, the period denotes 10 seconds rest. So for each set, complete 3 reps, rest 10 seconds, 2 reps, rest 10 seconds, and 1 rep.
